Maritime Museum

The Maritime Museum Rotterdam is a maritime museum in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Dedicated to naval history, it was founded in 1874 by Prince Henry of the Netherlands. The Museum Collection contains 850.000 objects from six centuries of maritime history.

Kunsthal

The Kunsthal is a museum in Rotterdam, which opened its doors in 1992. The museum is situated in the Museumpark of Rotterdam next to the Natuurhistorisch Museum Rotterdam, and in the vicinity of the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. Entrance to the Kunsthal is from the Westzeedijk.

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is an art museum in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. It is located at the Museumpark in the district Rotterdam Centrum, close to the Kunsthal and the Natural History Museum. The museum opened in 1849.

Natural History Museum

The Natuurhistorisch Museum Rotterdam is a natural history museum in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The museum was established in 1927. The museum is located in Villa Dijkzigt at the Museumpark, close to the Kunsthal and Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen.

Chabot Museum

The Chabot Museum is a museum dedicated to the Dutch painter and sculptor Hendrik Chabot in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The museum is housed in a monumental villa in the Museumpark, near the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen and the Netherlands Architecture Institute.

The Wereldmuseum Rotterdam is an ethnographic museum, situated Willemskade in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The museum was founded in 1883 and shows more than 1800 ethnographic objects from various cultures in Asia, Oceania, Africa, the Americas and the Islamic heritage.

Witte de With

The Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art is a center for contemporary art in Rotterdam, Netherlands, founded in 1990. Its current director is Defne Ayas. The center explores developments in contemporary art worldwide and presents them through curated exhibitions, symposia, live events, educational programs, and a publishing arm. 

Grote of Sint-Laurenskerk Cathedral

Grote of Sint-Laurenskerk is a Protestant church in Rotterdam. It is the only remnant of the medieval city of Rotterdam. The church was built between 1449 and 1525. In 1621 a wooden spire was added to the tower, designed by Hendrick de Keyser. Poor quality of its wood caused the spire to be demolished in 1645. A stone cube was added to the tower, which proved too heavy for the foundation in 1650. New piles were driven under the tower and in 1655 the tower stood straight again.

Euromast Tower

Euromast is an observation tower in Rotterdam, Netherlands, designed by Hugh Maaskant constructed between 1958 and 1960. It was specially built for the 1960 Floriade, and is a listed monument since 2010. The tower is a concrete structure with an internal diameter of 9 m (30 ft) and a wall thickness of 30 cm (12 in). For stability it is built on a concrete block of 1,900,000 kg (4,200,000 lb) so that the centre of gravity is below ground. It has a “crow’s nest” observation platform 96 m (315 ft) above-ground and a restaurant.

De Rotterdam Steam Ship

The fifth SS Rotterdam, also known as “The Grande Dame”, is a former ocean liner and cruise ship, and has been a hotel ship in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, since 2010. She was launched by Queen Juliana of the Netherlands in a gala ceremony on 13 September 1958, and was completed the following summer. The Rotterdam was the last great Dutch “ship of state”, employing the finest artisans from the Netherlands in her construction and fitting out process. Her career spanned forty-one years. She sailed from 1959 until her final retirement in September 2000.
